At adoption events, we often here, \u201cI\u2019d love to help but I have two dogs already\u201d or \u201cI love dogs but I can\u2019t afford one right now.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n


So many would love to adopt but don\u2019t have the space or money to commit. Here are some ideas to get your \u201cpuppy fix\u201d without actually adopting.<\/span><\/p>\n

The easiest way to help is to spread word-of-mouth about the rescue to your friends, relatives and people that you meet. There are many opportunities to talk about the benefits of rescuing a dog. If someone says \u201cHi\u201d to your dog, mention that it is a rescue and that there are plenty more up for adoption now. Wear a hat or T-shirt from the Rescue, check out our retail area for some low cost gear.<\/span><\/p>\n

The dogs are also in need of day-to-day help at the shelter. Helping to keep a clean living area, feeding the dogs, or even walking some of the dogs can make a big difference in their lives. There\u2019s a need for transporting animals to appointments and their new homes. There are also opportunities to temporarily house a dog as they transition to a forever home (fostering).<\/span><\/p>\n

Or d<\/span>o you have a talent for events coordination, fundraising, writing, maintaining social media or other creative abilities? We\u2019d like you to join our volunteer team to help build the Richland Area Rescue team.<\/span><\/p>\n

If your time is short, the Rescue is always in need of supplies, food items, and funding. Below are items available at Chet\u2019s and Tractor Supply that are always needed at the rescue. Purchasing them and donating them to the rescue is always appreciated.<\/span><\/p>\n

Food (specific)<\/span>
Treats (specific)<\/span>
Leashes<\/span>
Puppy pads<\/span>
Collars<\/span>
Crates<\/span>
Commonly used medications and hygiene products (specific)<\/span><\/p>\n

Monetary donations are always helpful to cover the many vet needs and maintenance costs. Judy and the rescue have made strides to rebuild the infrastructure following the fire, but maintaining kennels and <\/span>keeping up with the dogs veterinary, grooming and food needs is costly, and help from the community is welcomed.<\/span><\/p>\n
